What to Expect When You Visit Orlando in July
There is nothing in the world quite like a summer vacation in Orlando! The whole city seems to dress itself up in red, white, and blue to welcome out-of-town visitors as the star spangled festivities begin! What can you and your family expect when you arrive in July?
Weather
When you come to join us in July, you will want to plan for a little extra heat and humidity! Orlando has a reputation for high temps all year long, and the summer months are certainly no exception! You can anticipate a high temperature around 92 degrees Fahrenheit and lows near 74 degrees Fahrenheit.
It rains regularly in July, which is mother nature’s way of cooling things down so families can enjoy a long day at the parks! Pack a hat, bring along plenty of sunblock, and keep your umbrella on hand and you’ll have a great time.
Crowd Levels
In July, everyone seems to travel down to enjoy the iconic Orlando fireworks! This is one of the busiest months of the year – but that’s not a bad thing. There are enough activities for every family member, and with clever use of wait-time apps and fast passes, you’ll get to see absolutely everything.
July 4th Celebrations at Disney World
If you’re lucky enough to be spending your 4th of July at Walt Disney World Resort, you can enjoy stunning fireworks and an awe-inspiring laser light show at both the Magic Kingdom and Epcot.
The Magic Kingdom hosts Disney’s Celebrate America on July 3rd and 4th. A stunning display will take place right at Cinderella’s Castle, creating spectacular photo opportunities and incredible family memories!
Meanwhile, Epcot offers the Epcot Forever Lagoon Show at the World Showcase Lagoon. It is only a 4th of July event, and Epcot tends to have a very patriotic atmosphere during the daytime, so it’s a great place to spend the holiday itself! Consider checking out Epcot’s American Adventure show at the World Showcase Pavilion!
Our best tip is to check out Disney’s Celebrate America on July 3rd, which will free you up to check out the Epcot fireworks, which only happen on July 4th! You might want to pack some earplugs for the little ones because these incredible shows get intense! Visitors with special sensory needs might appreciate a pair of sunglasses, too!
Where to Find Fireworks in Orlando
The Fourth of July might be Orlando’s loudest night, with each of the major theme parks putting on eye-catching and explosive firework displays! While festivities go on all month long, you will have your pick of shows and celebrations if you’re in town on July 4th itself. Here are a few of our favorite displays for families during this week of patriotic party atmosphere:
Universal Studios Florida
Universal Studios typically has a festive 4th of July bash as well! 2022 was filled with fireworks synchronized to Universal-themed music, live music performances, character meet and greets, and nighttime lights at Hogwarts Castle! However, they have not released details about the 4th of July at Universal yet. Stay tuned and visit their website for the latest information.
Legoland Florida
LEGO fans can’t go wrong attending Legoland’s summer Red, White, and BOOM event! During the day, you will have the opportunity to help build a massive American flag out of thousands of LEGO bricks. Then, after the sun goes down, one of their biggest fireworks shows of the year can be seen above Lake Eloise.
Seaworld Orlando
There isn’t another fireworks show like the one around SeaWorld’s large central lake! A mix of fireworks, music and even pyrotechnics transform the night sky into a breathtaking ocean display.
While all the details are still pending, we do know you can enjoy the SeaWorld Summer Spectacular event every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday on select dates from May 31, 2023 to September 4, 2023! So even if you’re planning to spend your Independence Day at another location, you can keep the festivities going for multiple days.
Lake Eola Park, Downtown
Downtown Orlando is home to the Fireworks at the Fountain celebration, hosted annually at Lake Eola Park. These Independence Day celebrations include food, vendors, live entertainment, and other family fun throughout the evening! It culminates in a brilliant fireworks over the lake, featuring live musical accompaniment.
And, yes, it’s been confirmed that Fireworks at the Fountain will be back in 2023! The event this year will take place from 4:00pm to 10:00pm.
Other Things to Do in Orlando During the Summer Months
If you are in Orlando beyond July 4th weekend, we promise you won’t run out of other great things to do! While you probably won’t get Independence Day-level pyrotechnics, there are firework shows and light parades to catch at the theme parks nearly every night of the week!
Here are a few other options in Central Florida if you’re looking for something different:
- Take an Orlando Boat Tour to see America’s bald eagles in their natural habitat
- Discover the history of American Space travel at the Kennedy Space Center
- Make sure to study up in the Hall of Presidents at the Magic Kingdom
Whether you’re hoping to spend the whole trip chowing down on rocket pops with fireworks in your sights or want to take in some nightlife, you’ll have your pick of activities! July is Orlando’s busiest month, and visitors stay just as busy as they fill up their itinerary with these fun, family-friendly events!
