1. Visit Disney World Before Summer
May also brings the unofficial kickoff of summer at Walt Disney World! This begins the “busier” season for the park, so plan ahead and be sure to reserve your spot. Along with traditional park events and attractions, the Taste of EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival will be taking place throughout the month of May until May 27, 2024. So if flowers and gardening is your thing, you’ll want to add this to your to-do list.
And, if you’d like to cool off from the warmer afternoons, Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is open for you to enjoy a day at the water park with the whole family. 2. Explore the History of Orlando
Calling all history buffs… for those interested in the history and meaning of Memorial Day, a visit to the Museum of Military History would be right up your alley. Located in Kissimmee, the museum’s goal is to educate the world of the cost of freedom. If this is your area of interest, consider this a must-see for Memorial Day in Orlando.
3. Experience the World of Hogwarts
Enter the magical world of Harry Potter at Universal Studios. Visit Diagon Alley, travel to Hogsmeade, and then into Hogwarts castle for a journey you’ll never forget. If anyone in your family is a Harry Potter fan, this is a must-see (along with this incredible Harry Potter themed vacation rental). While you’re there, plan to visit Volcano Bay water park, which is now open!
4. Discover SeaWorld at Night
SeaWorld’s Electric Ocean is a one-of-a-kind event that begins after the sun goes down. The event includes colorful lights and park-wide dance music. End the night with a bang at the fireworks show before making your way back to your home away from home. Dates haven’t been announced for 2024 yet, but you can check SeaWorld’s website for updates!
5. Go For a Paddleboarding Adventure
If you’re looking for an outdoor adventure, Otter Paddle Orlando may just have the perfect option! Leave land behind and enjoy a paddleboard tour in one of the numerous locations throughout Central Florida. You may even get the chance to see a manatee up-close!
6. The Rock n’ Roll Concert and Car Show
The Rock & Blues Concert and Car Show will take place about 20 minutes north of Orlando in Casselberry at Lake Concord Park, which is a quick drive from all of our vacation homes. This FREE event will have live music and a car show with more than 100 classic cars, muscle cars, and hot rods. There will be over 20 food, beverage, and product vendors to take advantage of too! The event is scheduled for Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 4pm to 9pm.
7. Orange Grove Fun: Showcase of Citrus
The Showcase of Citrus is a fresh air attraction for the entire family. Visit the Old Time Country Store, feed farm animals, mine for gems, or enjoy a monster truck tour. Don’t forget to pick your own citrus fruits before you go! Located just outside of Orlando for a convenient and fun family-friendly experience.
8. Legoland for an Afternoon with Family
If your kiddos are into Legos, don’t forget to stop at Legoland Orlando for a fun-filled day of play! Located in Winter Haven, less than an hour from Orlando, Legoland boasts an interactive theme park, numerous shows and attractions, a water park, and a botanical garden. If you’re looking for a fun way to spend the day with the kids, you’ve found it.
9. Head to Icon Park for Attractions & More
If you’re looking for family fun, perhaps ICON Park would be a destination of choice. Here you will find the Sea Life Orlando Aquarium, Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum, an arcade, a train ride, and so much more. This is truly a family-friendly destination, conveniently located on International Drive in Orlando. Plus, with us, there’s no reason to wait in line! 10. Have an Outside Barbecue at Your Vacation Rental
Sometimes a good time is just outside your door. If you’re more interested in relaxing and having some family fun that doesn’t require you to leave your vacation rental, plan a barbecue!
