What’s the Weather Like in March?

As far as the weather, March tends to be one of the most comfortable times of the year. The temperatures begin to rise over the course of the month. However, there can be an unusually cold or hot day.

We recommend checking the long-term forecast before planning your vacation because it could go either way. From what we’ve seen, the weather will be praiseworthy this year for touring the Orlando theme parks!

Will the Theme Parks be Busy?

As a general rule, there will be an increase in crowds as the month progresses. If we were looking at a crowd meter, we’d say March has above-average crowds — especially towards the end of the month. Most Orlando schools will be out from March 9th to the 16th, which will undoubtedly inflate the crowds at the theme parks and other outdoor activities.

Additionally, Easter falls on Sunday, March 31st this year — and as you can imagine visiting Orlando for any holiday is on the top of many bucket lists!

Long story short, if you’re looking for a time when there won’t be as many people at the theme parks or throughout the greater Orlando area, we recommend coming during the first couple of weeks in March.

As a bonus tip: when you go to purchase your tickets at Walt Disney World, you’ll notice you no longer need to make a park reservation for specific dates! That’s right, as of January 9, 2024, theme park reservations will no longer be required for date-based tickets at Disney World.

Granted, spring breakers may find that theme park reservations may be needed for other admission types. You can learn more about the details and what to expect when you visit on their website.

Visiting Disney World for Spring Break

One of the biggest events of the year at Walt Disney World is the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival! This is a must-do in our books. It’s one of our favorite annual Disney World festivals with astounding topiaries of Disney characters and outdoor dining experiences with a variety of food, drinks, and desserts.

What’s even better?! This brilliant and vibrant event begins on February 28, 2024 — just in time for spring break and Easter festivities! They haven’t currently released an end date yet, but it’s typically around July 4th every year. For instance, it started last year on March 1st and went through July 5th.

But the fun doesn’t stop there! All of the Disney parks have something to love during the spring months, from the breathtaking Cinderella’s Castle in Magic Kingdom to the magical Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom that transports you into another world and Hollywood Studios.

PLUS, you can experience the magic of Disney’s waterparks while you’re here! Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon have been playing tag — where one will open just after the other closes for refurbishment.

Right now, Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park is open while Typhoon Lagoon is closed. We suggest checking back in closer to the date of your arrival to see which one is open. Maybe it will be the year when both are open at the same time… but we’ll have to wait and see!

More Things to Do in Orlando during Spring Break

When you have a day between park visits, there are still plenty of activities to choose from and Florida sunshine to take advantage of — including checking out Downtown Orlando and the Kennedy Space Center!

We’ve put together a few resources to give you some inspiration, like our list of free things to do in Orlando for families on vacation and top things to do at Disney Springs.

As for us, you’ll typically find at least one member of our team relaxing poolside while the kiddos play and enjoy the various water activities available (when we have time, that is). If that sounds like you, many of our homes have private pools right outside of the back door. Most of them also have fantastic game rooms that everyone in the family or your group will enjoy.

And, when you would like to venture around, some of our homes are even located within walking distance to fantastic resort amenities — like on-site dining and pool areas with water features that are like mini water parks! Think lazy rivers, waterslides, and splash parks designed just for the kids in the family.
