If you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World, one of the most magical places on Earth, then you’ll want to make sure that your itinerary includes all the things to do at Magic Kingdom.
Whether it’s dining with princesses in Fantasyland or conquering the park’s three majestic mountains, there are so many options for everyone! In this blog post, we will give you ten things that should be on your must-do list when visiting the Magic Kingdom theme park.
1. Get Spooked on the Haunted Mansion
Throughout the cadaverous realm of an eerie haunted Victorian estate, you’ll be guided by the voice of a Ghost Host, who holds gifts and clues to the hidden mysteries that await you. The Magic Kingdom’s Haunted Mansion is also arguably better than its Disneyland counterpart.
2. Conquer the Three Mountains
Be sure to add conquering the three mountains (Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, and Splash Mountain) to your list of things to do at Magic Kingdom!
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad:
A wild ride through abandoned mines awaits you when you board an old mining train. Plunge into canyons and dodge boulders and exploding dynamite while you race through the haunted ghost town of Tumbleweed.
Space Mountain:
Guests board two-car rocket ships that can hold up to six guests each, then these rocket ships shoot off into space, taking them into the stratosphere. Experience the pull of gravity as you enter into a swirling wormhole as you soar through shooting stars, unruly comets, and migrant meteors.
Splash Mountain:
The thrilling log flume adventure takes you to a world full of whimsical characters and classic songs. Brace yourselves — this musical cruise ends with an exhilarating 5-story super-soaked plunge into a thorny Briar Patch!
3. Try the Iconic Pineapple Dole Whip
The Dole Whip has become a Disney cult classic in the past decade, and its popularity is growing by the day. Dole Whip is a frozen sweet treat made from a blend of pineapple, vanilla, or swirled flavors.
You can find this delicious tropical soft-serve delight over at Aloha Isle, located in Adventureland. What more can you ask for on a hot summer day?

4. Hop on the Jungle Cruise
Experience a river cruise where ferocious beasts lurk, and silly jokes abound. Board a tramp steamer piloted by your trusted skipper, who will expertly guide you through some of the world’s most treacherous waters.
See lush tropical vegetation, butterflies, and waterfalls on the Amazon River in South America. Be sure to watch out for angry hippos, bathing elephants, and hungry lions along the Nile!
5. Mad Tea Party
As you spin in a giant teacup filled with music and fun, you will be transported to another world. If your a fan of Alice in Wonderland, this is the ride for you! Hold on to the wheel if you want a wild experience. Don’t want to get dizzy? Slowly turn the wheel, or don’t turn at all for a comfortable spin.
6. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom hosts its annual holiday party, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, in November and December. It includes exclusive fireworks, a spectacular parade that includes snowfall on Main Street, a stunning stage show, and other holiday-themed entertainment (including free hot chocolate and cookies, too!).
Magic Kingdom ticket prices for MVMCP will likely range from $119 to $149, depending upon the date. Magic Kingdom hours for holders of this special event ticket are from 4 pm to midnight.
7. Ride the Pirates of the Caribbean
Riding the Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the most classic things to do at Magic Kingdom Disney World. You’ll be humming “A Pirate’s Life For Me” almost as long as “It’s a Small World.” Because this is a boat ride, there is a tiny chance you’ll get wet, but not nearly as much as you would on Splash Mountain.
Set sail for a swashbuckling adventure throughout a forgotten era where pirates and privateers ruled the seven seas. This is an excellent ride for the entire family because everyone can sit together on the weathered barges.
8. Mickey’s PhillarMagic
This spectacular Disney fantasy adventure starring Donald Duck combines Disney magic with Disney music. The 150-foot-wide, 180-degree seamless wraparound screen in the Concert Hall allows you to experience the opera in 3D. Just pop on your “opera 3D glasses” and enjoy the show!
The scene opens with Donald Duck fast asleep. When he puts on Mickey’s Sorcerer’s Hat and takes charge by conducting the concert, he is instantly transported into a 3D dream world of beloved Disney animated musical sequences. Some of the songs include:
- “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King” from The Lion King
- “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast
- “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid
- “You Can Fly” from Peter Pan
- And many more!
9. Cinderella’s Royal Table
Imagine a storybook-inspired setting at Cinderella’s Castle featuring enchanting medieval flags, stone archways, and breathtaking stained-glass windows with views overlooking Fantasyland. Cinderella’s Royal Chef will begin your meal with assorted cured meats and cheeses to start your magical lunch or dinner.
Next up: a delicious main course with options like roasted chicken breasts, beef tenderloin, and the chef’s catch of the day.
Your little ones can enjoy favorites such as macaroni and cheese, beef tenderloin, or chicken nuggets. In addition to a great meal, be sure to top it off with a delicious dessert such as the coffee pots de creme. You can also try the signature The Clock Strikes Twelve, velvety dark chocolate mousse served with raspberry coulis and topped with a rich chocolate ganache.
10. Watch the Fireworks Show
Ok, so… the firework shows aren’t back yet! But, there’s been some reports of various displays being tested in the evening hours. But, this is one of our favorite things to do at Magic Kingdom and we couldn’t leave it off the list.
For whenever they’re back in action, you’ll be able to journey through Disney animated films that have long been a favorite with fans. This is the sort of show that will make you teary-eyed, especially if it’s your first time at the park.
Each night at the Magic Kingdom Park, Happily Ever After Fireworks begins at around 9pm. (times may vary based on the season). To get a good view of the shows, make sure you sit towards the back of the castle. Again, when they’re back again!
