Wondering what to pack for a vacation rental getaway? You’re not alone. Our favorite packing hack is having a vacation “go bag”! Life is incredibly busy and having this in place makes packing for your next trip as effortless as grabbing and going. All of our items we need for a weekend staycation are within this bag. Make it once and keep it tucked away in a closet for those times when a quick retreat is needed. Then, when you’re back home simply restock and you’re ready to go again!
Keep reading to find out what we keep in our infamous vacation “Grab N’ Go bag”.
The Grab N’ Go Vacation Rental Bag
- It starts with a sturdy tote bag with handles
- Good ground coffee for a drip coffee maker
- Coffee filters (the fluted kind as most homes have the basket coffee makers)
- Sugar or sweetener packets
- Ziplock bags – you’ll be amazed at all the uses from bathing suits to bringing home leftovers
- Salt and pepper with the closable lids
- Your MOST important spices (for us, that means oregano, red pepper flakes, and maybe cinnamon)
- Your favorite shampoo and conditioner
- Your favorite granola or cereal
- Umbrella
- A wine opener
- Teabags
- A small size dish soap
- A small bottle of your favorite cooking oil
That’s it! This way, when we arrive at our destination, we can just pick up a few perishables (yogurt, milk, fruit, maybe some eggs), beverages, and we’re good to go. No more having to think about what to pack for a vacation rental trip every time you want to get out of town. Of course, if you have small children in your life, your Grab N’ Go bag may have a lot more items in it. But by packing those essentials ahead of time and stashing them in a closet, you have made your life a whole lot easier.
If your kiddo is on the spectrum, packing takes a bit more time. But you can still keep everything organized! Check our autism travel checklist to help you pack.
And, when you stay with us in Orlando, every rental is stocked with all the beginning necessities to start your vacation! This is meant to make sure you have all the starter items, so you don’t have to go straight to the grocery store when you arrive — think dish detergent, soap, shampoo, and conditioner.
